Résumé Dr. Horst Ihlas
Dr. Horst Ihlas is managing director and partner of the Financial Lines broker Dr. Ihlas GmbH based in Cologne since 2005. The company is specialized in handling large exposures.
From 2003 to 2005 he was Head of Financial & Professional (Finpro) at Marsh GmbH, after his previous position as Director and Vice President at Chubb Insurance Company of Europe SE. From 1992 to 2003 he managed the area of Financial Risks for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
From 1995 to 2003 he also was a member of the D&O Task Force at the German Insurance Association (GDV).
He is the author of the book “directors and officers liability insurance” (1997), which simultaneously represents his doctoral thesis. He has received an award from the Deutsches Aktieninstitut e.V. (DAI). 2009, he updated his thesis to a 2nd edition as comprehensive reference book entitled “D&O”. He wrote the D&O chapter of the 2nd volume of the “Munich Großkommentar zum VVG” by Langheid/Wandt (Editors) which was released in late 2011.
Since 2008, Dr. Horst Ihlas is lecturer at the University of Hamburg as part of the master program “LL.M. Insurance Law”.
Dr. Horst Ihlas is the author of numerous articles and often times speaks at Financial Lines conferences.
Résumé Dr. Hermann Mitterlechner
Dr. Hermann Mitterlechner is managing director and partner of the Financial Lines Broker Dr. Ihlas GmbH based in Cologne since 2010, which is specialised in handling large exposures.
From 2005 to 2010 he worked for the Marsh GmbH as Senior Client Advisor in the Financial Business & Professional (Finpro) and Head of Global Corporates (DAX companies and other large customers). In addition, Mr. Mitterlechner was a member of the European D&O Advisory Boards in London as well as elected member of the D&O Global Advisory Board in New York.
From 1994 to 2004, Mr. Mitterlechner worked for Chubb Insurance Company of Europe SE, where he headed the Commercial Practice Group of the Business Specialty Insurance for Germany, Austria and Switzerland from 2002 to 2004. He was also engaged in product development tasks especially in the D&O insurance. From 1998 to 2004 he was head of the “specialty insurance” in the Munich office.
Mr. Mitterlechner is a co-author of the book “The D&O Insurance”, which was published by C.H.Beck in 2011. It is edited together with Professor Dr. Michael Gruber and Dr. Thomas Wax.
2005 Mr. Mitterlechner received the doctor’s degree part-time on “Legal Implications of investor's protection with respect to investments in closed- end funds”.
In 1993 he graduated after a two-year program of study as an MBA with a concentration in International Management from Thunderbird University, Phoenix, Arizona (USA).
Résumé Dagmar Laubscher-Tietze
Dagmar Laubscher-Tietze has a law degree (Assessor jur.) and joined the Dr. Ihlas GmbH in 2011 as an Account Executive.
Since 1996 she worked in the field of Financial Loss Liability Insurance. 2009 to 2010 she worked as an Account Executive of Venture Capital- & Private Equity Companies and other Financial Institutions at Minerva Assekuranzvermittlung GmbH in Wiesbaden.
From 1999 until 2008 Mrs. Laubscher-Tietze was a Senior Underwriter at Chubb Insurance Company of Europe SE. Within that period she was appointed as interim manager of the Executive Protection Department in the Frankfurt Branch.
1996 to 1999 she was the inhouse lawyer at TAS Touristik Assekuranz Service GmbH. During that time she was assigned to the Law-, Claims- and Sales-Departments. Product development and Training also were areas of her responsibility.
1995 she took her second State Examination. In between 1993 and 1995 she spent her post judicial service trainee at the Chamber of Commerce of the LG Darmstadt, the Business Law Firm Drs. Weinberger, Sottung & Partners in Munich and the Advocate General of the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg.
From 1988 until 1992 she attended the Law Schools at the Universities of Mannheim and Heidelberg and specialized in Business Law as well as British and U.S. Law.
Since 1999 she is a member of the German Association of Travel law. In 2002 she took over the position of the Regional Manager Frankfurt of Absolventum e.V., the Alumni-Network of the University of Mannheim.
Résumé Miriam Marx
Mrs. Miriam Marx joined the Dr. Ihlas GmbH in 2008. She is an Account Executive and an Attorney at Law.
2008 she was admitted as a Lawyer by the Chamber of Lawyers in Cologne. 2007 she took her second State Examination at the LJPA in Düsseldorf.
From 2004 until 2007 during her post judicial service trainee Mrs. Marx specialized in European- and Insurance-Law. Working at AXA she started to deal with D&O-Insurance matters.
2004 she took her first State Examination in Law.
From 1999 until 2004 Mrs. Marx studied Law at the University of Cologne. In cooperation with the University Science Politique in Paris she joined the Proteus program in Bruxelles and Paris and obtained the Certificate of European Studies.
